The aim of our study is to investigate the expression of microRNA-132 (miR-132) and its effect on cardiocyte proliferation, apoptosis, and cardiac fibrosis by binding to phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) through the phosphateidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase (Akt) signal transduction pathway in DCM rats.
In addition, we found that increasing Akt S473 phosphorylation through deletion of Pten or chemical inhibition of PTEN reversed DCM and heart failure in Pdk1-deficient mice.
No foci of HGPIN showed uniform PTEN loss; there was only 38% concordance of PTEN expression pattern between HGPIN and the nearby acinar carcinoma, unlike AIP and IDC (77% and 81%, respectively, P<0.01).
