This study suggests that ABCA1rs1883025 variants are not associated with nAMD or PCV in a Chinese population, which is likely due to an ethnic difference.
We found that in Asian population, CETP rs3764261 (T allele; OR = 1.46; 95% CI: 1.28-1.665, P < 0.01), CETP rs2303790 (G allele; OR = 1.57; 95% CI: 1.258-1.96, P < 0.01), and ABCG1rs57137919 (A allele; OR = 1.168; 95% CI: 1.016-1.343, P < 0.01) were significantly associated with PCV, and ABCG1rs57137919 (A allele; OR = 1.208, 95% CI: 1.035-1.411, P < 0.01) has different effects in PCV and AMD.
In this study, we have newly identified a haplotype-tagging SNP, rs225396, in ABCG1 to be associated with PCV and nAMD in Chinese and Japanese cohorts.
Current results implied that choroidal hemodynamics may be relevant to variable natural history and treatment response in neovascular AMD and polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy.
Morphological Difference of Choroidal Vasculature Between Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy and Neovascular AMD on OCT: From the Perspective of Pachychoroid.
No statistically significant association was observed between the two polymorphisms of CFI and AMD risk, including nAMD, PCV and combined AMD (p > 0.05 for all comparisons).
To compare the genomic contribution of the ARMS2/HTRA1 region of chromosome 10q26 to typical neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) (also known as typical exudative AMD) and to polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) METHODS: DNA samples were prepared from 84 patients with typical nAMD, 181 patients with PCV, and 276 control participants.
In this cross-sectional study, 162 subjects with nAMD from the Asian AMD Phenotyping Study and 105 randomly sampled age-matched and gender-matched controls from the population-based Singapore Chinese Eye Study were recruited. nAMD was categorised as either polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) or 'typical' AMD (tAMD).
Fellow eyes of patients with classic exudative AMD had greater foveal avascular zone area and smaller VD values of the deep retinal capillary plexus than those with polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (P < 0.001, P = 0.004).
