This study was carried out to assess whether serum apelin correlates with SR of the infarct-related coronary artery in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients.
The association of apelin-12 levels with the N/L ratio on admission was assessed in 170 consecutive patients with primary STEMI undergoing primary PCI.
Increased plasma concentrations of apelin at admission in patients with STEMI were associated with a higher risk of mortality at 6months, adding prognostic value to the provided by BNP.
