Chemokine C-C motif ligand 3 (CCL3) levels were inversely associated with risk of VTE (hazard ratio [HR] per double increase, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.385, 95% CI: 0.161-0.925, <i>p =</i> 0.033), while there was no association between the risk of VTE and serum levels of interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-4, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-11, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), respectively.
We examined in a case-control study the association of VTE and levels of interleukin (IL)-6, IL-8 and monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1) and assessed whether promoter polymorphisms (IL-6 -174GC, IL-8 -251AT, MCP-1 -2518AG) would affect the thrombotic risk and cytokine levels.
