Germline mutations in SPRTN cause Ruijs-Aalfs syndrome (RJALS), a disorder characterized by genome instability, progeria and early onset hepatocellular carcinoma.
Cells derived from patients with SPRTN mutations elicit genomic instability and people afflicted with this syndrome developed hepatocellular carcinoma.
