In this study, we manifested firstly that the expression of miR-205-5p in cisplatin-resistant NPC cell line HNE1/DDP was obviously up-regulated than that in its parental cell line HNE1.
Since microRNA-205 (miR-205) is predictive biomarkers for radiation-resistant of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, monitoring of the dynamic variation of miR-205 is of great interest for developing a personalized strategy for the treatment of NPC.
Among them, 9 miRNAs were significantly up-regulated of which miR-205 and miR-196a showed the most up-regulated in NPC with the highest incidence percentage of 94.1% and 88.2%, respectively, while the unique down-regulated miR-150 was further validated in patient sera.
Ultimately, miR-135b-5p and miR-205-5p may be implicated as novel NPC candidate biomarkers, while miR- 93-5p, miR-650 and miR-183-5p may find application as relevant clinical pathology and diagnostic candidate biomarkers.
In this work, we advanced the assay to differentiate the expression of a nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) up-regulator hsa-mir-205 (mir-205) in serum collected from patients of different stages of NPC.
Our research group established the radioresistant NPC cell line CNE2R derived from the CNE2 cell line, and demonstrated that irradiation-induced miR-205 determined the resistance of NPC through directly targeting PTEN.
Comprehensive analysis of the coordinate expression of miRNAs and mRNAs reveals that miR-29a/c, miR-34b, miR-34c-3p, miR-34c-5p, miR-429, miR-203, miR-222, miR-1/206, miR-141, miR-18a/b, miR-544, miR-205 and miR-149 may play important roles on the development of NPC.
