UGT8 expression is transcriptionally up-regulated by Sox10, triggering the sulfatide biosynthetic pathway; increased sulfatide activates integrin αVβ5-mediated signaling that contributes to BLBC progression.
On the basis of these findings, we hypothesized that BBC might be likewise driven by SOX10-positive (SOX10<sup>+</sup>)/CD133<sup>+</sup> cells with neural stem cell properties.
