TAF15 (formerly TAFII68) is a member of the FET (FUS, EWS, TAF15) family of RNA- and DNA-binding proteins whose genes are frequently translocated in sarcomas.
These results suggest that the powerful promoters of FET genes are predominantly responsible for the oncogenic effect of transcription factor translocations in sarcomas.
RBP56 has not previously been shown to be involved in tumorigenesis but it encodes a putative RNA-binding protein similar to the EWS and FUS (TLS) proteins known to play a pathogenetic role in several sarcomas.
