We evaluated the potential of drug combinations to increase the efficacy of the MEK inhibitor selumetinib (AZD6244, ARRY-142886), in UM cell lines and Patient-Derived Xenografts.
Although both immune-checkpoint inhibitors and targeted therapies such as MEK inhibitors have been evaluated in metastatic uveal melanoma, the efficacy of these therapies is modest to date.
Several drugs, such as bevacizumab, imatinib and MEK-inhibitors, are currently under investigation as single agents or in combination with chemotherapeutic drugs for the treatment of metastatic uveal melanoma.
