1,158 patients with T2DM belonging to two independently ascertained North Indian and one South Indian cohorts were genotyped for ACACβ (rs2268388) and AGTR1 (rs5186) polymorphism using real time PCR-based Taq-man assay and PCR-RFLP assays.
The distributions of the AT1R (rs5186) and ACE2 (rs2285666) genotypes and alleles did not differ between T2D patients with or without dyslipidemia and the controls.
The multivariable adjusted hazard ratios (95% confidence intervals) for rs1800779, rs3918226, rs1799983, rs1799752, rs699, and rs5186 were 1.01 (0.92-1.10), 1.09 (0.93-1.27), 0.95 (0.86-1.05), 1.04 (0.95-1.14), 1.08 (0.98-1.18), 1.01 (0.91-1.11), confirming the lack of association between the genotypes and incident type 2 diabetes.
