The Systemic Lupus Erythematosus-Associated Single Nucleotide Polymorphism rs1143678 in Integrin αM Cytoplasmic Tail Generates a 14-3-3ζ Binding Site That Is Proinflammatory.
Multiple studies have demonstrated that single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the ITGAM locus (including the nonsynonymous SNPs rs1143679, rs1143678, and rs1143683) are associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
Although this meta-analysis showed significant association of rs1143683 (A vs. G, OR 1.534;95%CI 1.312-1.792), rs9888739 (T vs. C,OR 1.627;95%CI 1.380-1.918), rs1143678 (T vs. C, OR 1.543; 95%CI 1.330-1.790), rs9937837 (A vs. G, OR 0.466; 95%CI 0.227-0.957) with SLE; all of these were conducted in random effects model as heterogeneity was detected.
