Therefore, we studied the distribution of the TLR9 C > T (rs352140) polymorphism in patients with SLE (n = 254) and controls (n = 521) in a Polish population.
In conclusion, there is still not enough evidence to indicate an association between TLR9 gene rs187084, rs352139, and rs352140 polymorphisms and the development of SLE in the Asian population.
We analyzed the frequency of TLR7 rs179008, TLR8 rs3764880, TLR9 rs5743836 and rs352140 in 370 patients with SLE and 415 healthy controls from southern Brazil.
Furthermore, no association was found between the rs5744168 (TLR5) polymorphism and SLE susceptibility in Europeans or between the rs187084 (TLR8) or rs352140 (TLR9) polymorphisms and SLE susceptibility in Asians.
Our study suggests that a single nucleotide polymorphism (rs352140</span>) in the exon 2 region of TLR9 gene may be a susceptibility factor for SLE in Chinese population.
