The AA genotype of rs4680 or A_T_C_A/ A_T_C_A (rs6269_rs4633_ rs4818_rs4680) diplotype of COMT, combined with the AG genotype of OPRM1 A118G, showed significantly increased pressure pain threshold from butorphanol.
For patients with no copies of the LPS haplotype, AA of OPRM1 A118G was significantly associated with higher pain scores compared to the variant AG/GG.
Further studies are needed to fully investigate the effect of MOR A118G SNP on the post operative pain scores and SC values in the larger infant population in order to validate both the clinical significance of the skin conductance for routine pain assessment in infants and the observed genetic effect.
