We investigated possible influences of 3 single nucleotide polymorphisms in the d-amino acid oxidase activator (rs2391191, rs947267, rs3918342) on clinical outcomes and side effects in 86 Korean schizophrenia patients treated with aripiprazole for 8weeks, finding that individuals carrying rs2391191 A allele had significantly lower brief psychiatric rating scale scores than subjects carrying the G allele at each time point.
In this study, we have identified statistically significant transmission disequilibrium in two markers rs778293 (P=0.01) and rs3918342 (P=0.02), and a highly significant under-transmission between haplotype CAT (P=0.0005) and schizophrenia.
All subjects were genotyped for two closely linked single nucleotide polymorphisms in the DAOA gene complex, M23 (rs3918342) and M24 (rs1421292), that have previously shown association with schizophrenia.
