Our results suggest that I164T mutation is associated with hypoadiponectinemia through disturbed secretion into plasma, which may contribute to the development of the metabolic syndrome.
All the subjects carrying I164T mutation showed some feature of metabolic syndrome, including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, and atherosclerosis.
