Full-dose CHOP chemotherapy combined with granulocyte colony-stimulating factor for aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in elderly patients: a prospective study.
In this study we demonstrate that pleural fluids (PF) obtained from patients with empyema (EMP) contains significantly higher levels of granulocyte colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF), and PMN incubated in empyema (EMP) pleural fluid (PF) showed significantly less apoptosis than congestive heart failure (CHF) PF.
We identified the pathological GM-CSF-producing cardiac fibroblast subset and the specific deletion of IL-17A signaling to these cells attenuated cardiac inflammation and heart failure.
This case highlights the importance of prompt CSF diversion and cardiac support for acute hydrocephalus presenting with heart failure in the pediatric population.
