S100A8, S100A9, and RAGE were up-regulated in prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia and preferentially in high-grade adenocarcinomas, whereas benign tissue was negative or showed weak expression of the proteins.
Down-regulation of RAGE correlates with higher tumour (TNM) stages but does not depend on the histological subtypes, squamous cell lung carcinoma and adenocarcinoma.
Immunohistochemistry of gastric carcinoma tissue showed that 62 (65%) of the 96 cases examined were RAGE-positive and that poorly differentiated adenocarcinomas preferentially expressed RAGE protein (38/42, 90%) (p<0.0001).
