These findings suggest that FOXF2 has a dual role in breast tumorigenesis and functions as either a tumor suppressor or an oncogene depending on the breast tumor subtype.
Although recent studies reported decreased FoxF2 expression in several types of cancers, indicating its potential role in carcinogenesis, the mechanistic role of FoxF2 is yet to be explored.
