APN overexpression in RAW264.7 cells successfully inhibited intracellular lipid accumulation, and atherosclerotic lesions and lipid accumulation were significantly reduced by Lenti-SP-APN in ApoE-/- atherosclerosis mice.
In conclusion, APN can promote RCT and intracellular cholesterol efflux by upregulating the expression of ABCA1, to delay the occurrence and development of atherosclerosis.
According to the results of a preliminary study, it was hypothesized that the effects of adiponectin (APN) on the improvement of atherosclerosis may be associated with adipocyte differentiation and peroxisome proliferator‑activated receptor γ (PPARγ).
The aim of the present study was to determine the correlation between adiponectin (APN) gene polymorphism, metabolic syndrome incidence, and degree of atherosclerosis in patients with this disease.
The results show that the majority of chondrocyte-like cells were of bone marrow origin, whereas CD34(+)/CD13(+) myeloid precursors appeared to infiltrate the plaque actively and transdifferentiated into chondrocytes-like cells in the progression of atherosclerosis.
