The heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 (hnRNP A1) is a versatile RNA-binding protein playing a critical role in alternative pre-mRNA splicing regulation in cancer.
In the present study, the gene expression across normal and tumor tissue (GENT) database was used to evaluate the mRNA expression of hnRNPA1 in various types of cancer.

Our findings indicate that methylarginine residues within the RGG-motif region of hnRNP A1 are important for its cytoplasmic activities and that hypomethylation and/or mutation of the RGG-motif region may contribute to the role of hnRNP A1 in diseases such as cancer.
