CDK9 expression along with phospho-Ser2 RNA Pol II (pRNA Pol II ser2) and bromodomain-binding protein 4 (BRD4), which recruits CDK9, were elevated in multiple MB cell lines and in MB tumors originated spontaneously from Ptch1+/-p53-/- mice.
Our study may resolve the controversy on the role of PDGFRs in MB and unveils JAG2 as a key downstream effector of a PDGFRβ-driven signaling cascade and a potential therapeutic target.
Finally, the positive correlation of MYC and JAG2 also with aggressive anaplastic tumors and highly metastatic MB stages suggested that high JAG2 expression may be useful as additional marker to identify aggressive MBs.
