NRP-1 was highly expressed in pancreatic cancer tissues compared with normal pancreatic tissues, and its expression levels were positively correlated with tumor grade, lymph metastasis and AJCC staging.
Many reports suggested that NRP-1 might also serve as a separate receptor for VEGF-A<sub>165</sub> causing stimulation of tumour growth and metastasis.
NRP-1 expression in osteosarcoma tissues was significantly higher, and high NRP-1 expression was more frequently occurred in osteosarcoma tissues with advanced clinical stage, positive distant metastasis and poor response to chemotherapy.
Overall, the results demonstrate that NRP-1 is involved in melanoma progression through VEGFR-2-dependent and -independent mechanisms and suggest NRP-1 as a target for the treatment of the metastatic disease.
