Here, we used a rat model of acute kidney injury to CKD transition to investigate heart alterations in the pathway activating endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and its impact on the cardiac injury observed during CKD progression.
We investigated the involvement of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor-γ (PPAR-γ)/endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) pathway in estradiol mediated protection against ischemia reperfusion (I/R)-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) in rats.
Here we report that the SNO-CoA-AKR1A1 system is highly expressed in renal proximal tubules, where it transduces the activity of eNOS in reprogramming intermediary metabolism, thereby protecting kidneys against acute kidney injury.
