The silencing of MIG6 using siRNA eliminated the P4-mediated reduction of EC cell viability, indicating that MIG6 is an essential downstream component of PR-mediated growth suppression.
In this study, after confirming the downregulation of Mig-6 protein in endometrial carcinoma (EC) tissues, the expression of Mig-6 was upregulated in Ishikawa cells by pCMV6-Mig-6 plasmid.
Importantly, the observation that endometrial carcinomas from women have a significant reduction in MIG-6 expression provides compelling support for an important growth regulatory role for Mig-6 in the uterus of both humans and mice.
