These data signify that CYP2A and CYP1A isoforms expressed in the target urothelium bioactivate 4-ABP and AαC, respectively, and may be a critical feature of aromatic amine-induced urinary bladder carcinogenesis.
To assess the effect of low-molecular-weight polysaccharides from Agaricus blazei Murrill (ABP-AW1) as an immunoadjuvant therapy for type 1 T-helper (Th1) responses in tumorigenesis, C57BL/6 mice were inoculated subcutaneously with ovalbumin (E.G7-OVA).
Mechanisms that have been postulated include an increased sex steroid level associated with a decreased serum level of sex hormone-binding globulin and an increased bioactive level of insulin-like growth factor I, which may synergize with estrogen in promoting mammary carcinogenesis.
Our results suggest that steroidal regulation of intracellular SHBG synthesis in the myometrium and the leiomyoma might differ from that in the endometrium, and that the mechanism of SHBG expression in leiomyoma might, in the process of tumorigenesis, be altered from that of corresponding normal myometrium, contributing to SHBG overexpression and the abundant estrogen supply.
