We investigated the possible association between asthma and 5 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the interleukin 17 (IL17) gene--rs17880588 (G/A) and rs17878530 (C/T) in IL17A and rs763780 (T/C), rs11465553 (T/C), and rs2397084 (G/A) in IL17F--and compared levels of the proteins IL17A and IL17F in asthma patients with those of controls.
The aim of this study was to evaluate an association between the IL17A (-197G>A; rs2275913) and IL17F (rs763780: T>C; rs11465553: G>A; rs2397084: T>C) polymorphisms with psoriasis susceptibility as well as response to topical and combined topical with narrow-band ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) therapy in a Polish population.
We searched electronic databases (PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, CBM and CNKI) to identify papers, published before October 2014, on associations between polymorphisms in the IL-17 pathway genes (rs2275913, rs763780, rs3748067, rs3819025, rs9382084, rs12203582 and rs8193036) and the risk of gastrointestinal diseases.
We genotyped three single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in IL-17A (rs2275913, rs3819025 and rs3748067) and five SNPs in IL-17F (rs7771511, rs9382084, rs12203582, rs1266828 and rs763780) to determine the haplotypes in 491 women with breast cancer and 502 healthy individuals.
In the subgroup analysis, people carrying homozygous variants of rs2275913 andrs12203582 were more likely to develop lung cancer both in adenocarcinoma (OR: 2.33, 95% confidence interval = 1.34-4.05; OR: 1.84, 95% confidence interval = 1.04-3.25) and advanced (OR: 2.35, 95% confidence interval = 1.46-3.80; OR: 1.74, 95% confidence interval = 1.06-2.87) groups.

Our systematic review showed that IL-17F rs1889570(C/T), IL-17A rs4711998(A/G) and IL-17A rs3819024(A/G) may be potential risk factors for asthma susceptibility.
