Consistent with their breast cancer associations, rs3817198 (LSP1) and rs13281615 (8q) were associated with dense area and percent dense area (all P(x) and P(c) <0.05), and rs889312 (MAP3K1), rs2107425 (H19), and rs17468277 (CASP8) were marginally associated with dense area (some P(x) or P(c) <0.05).
The most significant association was for the SNP rs2107425, located on chromosome 11p15.5, which has previously been identified as a susceptibility allele for breast cancer from a genome wide association study (P-trend = 0.0012).
Among 11 Breast Cancer Association Consortium risk single-nucleotide polymorphisms, we found that the genotype-associated breast cancer risk varied significantly by radiation dose for rs2107425 in the H19 gene (P(interaction) = 0.001).
