Meta-analysis showed only rs266729 and rs17300539</span> of ADIPOQ, and rs1884613, rs2144908, and rs4810424 of HNF4A were significantly associated with T2D risk.
Particularly, gene polymorphisms in ADIPOQ (rs1501299 and rs17300539), LepR (rs1137101 and rs1045895), IRS2 (rs1805092), GRB14 (rs10195252 and rs3923113) and PPARG (rs1801282) have been associated with overweight and obesity in uncontrolled T2DM.
The -3971 A/G (rs822396) and -11391 G/A (rs17300539) SNPs' association with T2DM diabetes was mediated through obesity (where the association with type 2 diabetes was lost after adjusting for BMI).
To derive a more precise estimation, we performed a meta-analysis to assess the association between five AdipoQ polymorphisms [-11426A > G (rs16861194), -11391G > A (rs17300539), -11377C > G (rs266729), +45T > G (rs2241766) and +276G > T (rs1501299)], and T2DM risk.
Varied association of ADIPOQ genotypes with T2DM was seen according to the genetic model used: rs1730</span>0539 and rs266729 were significantly associated with T2DM under the three models, while rs16861194 was association with T2DM under additive and dominant models, and rs822396, rs2241766, and rs1063538 were associated with T2DM under the dominant models only.
