Previous studies examining the association of leptin receptor (LEPR) Gln223Arg polymorphism with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) risk have yielded controversial outcomes.
The study was conducted to investigate the association of CRP rs1130864 (1444C/T), IL-6 rs1800795 (-174G/C) and LEPR rs1137101 (Q223R) genes with OSA and NAFLD in Asian Indians residing in North India.
Our study demonstrated that TNF-α 308 G/A, 5-HTT LPR, and 5-HTT-VNTR polymorphisms were associated with OSAS risk, whereas little association was observed between 5-HTR2A 102C/T, 5-HTR2A A1438G, ACE I/D, or LEPR-Gln 223Arg polymorphism and risk of OSAS in the Chinese population.
The tetranucleotide repeat polymorphism of the leptin gene and the Lys109Arg, Gln223Arg, and Lys656Asn SNPs in the LEPR gene were not associated with OSAS in the Japanese population.
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the frequency of distribution of leptin receptor gene polymorphism GLN223ARG in OSAS patients compared with healthy controls.
