Further subgroup analyses revealed that CTLA-4 rs231775, IL-18 rs1946518 and IL-18 rs187238 polymorphisms were significantly associated with susceptibility to hepatitis B virus (HBV), especially among East Asians.
Viral and host predictors of relapse were evaluated, including hepatitis B virus (HBV) surface antigen (HBsAg) level, anti-HBV core antibody level, and presence of single-nucleotide polymorphisms in the genes encoding the receptors NTCP (rs2296651) and CTLA4 (rs231775) and in the 3' untranslated regions of the genes encoding HLA-DPA1 (rs3077) and HLA-DPB1 (rs9277535); posttherapy predictors of relapse were also investigated.
Here, we examined the genotypes at rs231775 of 1003 subjects in a Han Chinese population to detect the association between this single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) susceptibility, including 375 HBV-related HCC patients, 209 non-HCC patients with HBV infection, and 419 healthy controls.
