After considering the heterogeneity of the global analysis, we inferred that rs2910164 polymorphisms were associated with a lower risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) significantly in all genetic models.
Significant associations between microRNA-146a rs2910164 polymorphism and CHD risk were observed in the total population, as well as in subgroup analysis.
The current meta-analysis results showed that rs2910164 CC genotype has a decreased risk with overall cardiovascular diseases and the specific coronary artery disease.
We conducted a three-stage case-control study of CHD in Chinese to test our hypothesis by genotyping miR-196a2 rs11614913 and three other pre-miRNA SNPs (miR-146a rs2910164, miR-149 rs2292832, and miR-499 rs3746444) in 1,324 CHD cases and 1,783 non-CHD controls.
