RESULTS The results obtained from this study demonstrated that XRCC1-77TC + CC, XRCC1 399Gln/Gln, COMT 186CT + TT, COMT 158Val/Met genotypes, type of occupation, cooking-oil fumes, and soot exposures were all independent risk factors involved with the occurrence of lung cancer among non-smoking women.
The COMT rs4680 A allele was positively associated with lung cancer in never smokers (for G/A or A/A vs. G/G, OR = 1.46, 95% CI: 1.12, 1.90) but not in ever smokers.
Five publications, including six individual studies with a total of 4,043 subjects (1,796 cases and 2,247 controls) regarding the association of COMT Val158Met polymorphism with lung cancer susceptibility were included in this meta-analysis.
