A common 825C>T polymorphism in exon 10 of the gene for the beta-3 subunit of heterotrimeric G-proteins, GNB3, has been associated in some studies with traits of the metabolic syndrome as well as coronary artery disease (CAD), but these associations were refuted by other studies.
AGT T174M, GNB3 825C>T, and APOC3 -455T>C genotypes were significantly associated with MetS (P = 0.018, 0.0056, and 0.029, respectively) for female adults, whereas FABP2 A54T genotype was associated with MetS (P = 0.040) for female adolescents.
The C825T polymorphism in the gene coding for the beta3 subunit of G proteins (GNB3) has been shown to be associated with several phenotypes such as hypertension, obesity, and diabetes mellitus comprising the metabolic syndrome.
