Our meta-analysis results did not show significant associations between these 6 polymorphisms in 4 candidate genes and IS, despite the functional role of some of these single nucleotide polymorphisms (e.g., rs6050 in FGA gene).
Data on the role of the -455G > A polymorphism of the gene encoding β fibrinogen subunit (FGB) and the Thr312Ala polymorphism of the gene for the α fibrinogen subunit (FGA) in childhood ischemic stroke are insufficient.
Our study suggested that minor allele G of rs6050 is a significant risk factor, which can increase IS risk in the Chinese Han population, while minor allele A of rs1800790 and the haplotype AA lower such risk.
