In the current study, chondrocytes were induced by interleukin-1β (IL-1β) to simulate OA condition, and further assessed cell viability, lncRNA MEG3 and miR-93 expression levels.
Altogether, these findings indicate that miR-93-5p slows OA progression partially by suppressing TCF4 expression, and this phenomenon may provide novel insights into the function of miRNA in OA.
Subsequently, the expression of miR‑93 was further validated in the articular cartilage tissues of OA mice and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‑stimulated primary chondrocytes.
Correlation regression analyses showed a negative expression correlation between SNHG16 and microRNA-93-5p, as well as CCND1 and microRNA-93-5p in OA patients.
