We show that rs6761637 is in linkage disequilibrium with MARCO polymorphisms that have been previously linked to susceptibility to pulmonary tuberculosis.
These data showed that MARCOrs12998782 may increase PTB risk while two SNPs of CD36, rs1194182 and rs10499859 may reduce the risk, indicating MARCO and CD36 as important receptors in response to PTB.
Our study suggested that genetic variants in MARCO gene were associated with pulmonary tuberculosis susceptibility in Chinese Han population, and the findings emphasize the importance of MARCO mediated immune responses in the pathogenesis of tuberculosis.
