This meta-analysis suggests, for the first time, that the EXO1 Glu589Lys polymorphism is not associated with overall cancer susceptibility, although marginal associations were found for lung cancer and Asian subgroups.
Our results provide the first evidence that the A allele of Exo1 K589E may be associated with the development of lung cancer and may be a novel useful marker for primary prevention and anticancer intervention.
These results suggest that the EXO1 Glu589Lys polymorphism and its surrounding regions might be genetic susceptibility markers for lung cancer in this study population.
