Here, we assessed whether TGF-β1 affects the ability of HASM cells to relax in response to β2-agonists, a mainstay treatment for airway hyperresponsiveness in asthma.
Among elderly asthmatics, subjects with severe asthma had lower FEV1 (% predicted) value, but showed significantly higher serum levels of eotaxin-2 and TGF-β1, than those with non-severe asthma (<i>P</i> < 0.05 for each).
Taken together, the present results have revealed that PCA inhibits asthma airway remodeling by suppressing proliferation and extracellular matrix (ECM) protein deposition in TGF-β1-mediated ASMCs via the inactivation of Smad2/3 signaling pathway.
MicroRNA-744 Inhibits Proliferation of Bronchial Epithelial Cells by Regulating Smad3 Pathway via Targeting Transforming Growth Factor-β1 (TGF-β1) in Severe Asthma.
In the current study, we found that miR-448-5p was dramatically decreased in lung tissues of asthmatic mice and TGF-β1-stimulated bronchial epithelial cells.
Cryptotanshinone Attenuates Airway Remodeling by Inhibiting Crosstalk Between Tumor Necrosis Factor-Like Weak Inducer of Apoptosis and Transforming Growth Factor Beta 1 Signaling Pathways in Asthma.
It will further review the evidence demonstrating the extent to which IL-17A interacts with various immune factors, specifically TGF-β1, to contribute to ASM remodeling and altered function in TH17-driven endotypes of severe asthma.
The exhaled-TGF-β1 levels were significantly lower in those children with asthma exacerbation when compared to the stable asthmatic children (<i>p</i> = 0.0003).<b>Conclusion:</b> Our results suggest that TGF-β1 may play a role in suppressing airway reactivity and its deficiency is associated with asthma exacerbation.AbbreviationsACTAsthma control testAHRAirway hyper-reactivityASMAirway smooth muscleBALBronchoalveolar lavageELISAEnzyme-linked immunoassayEIBExercise-induced bronchospasmEBCExhaled breath condensateFEV1Forced expiratory volume in the first secondFEV1/FVCForced expiratory volume in the first second/forced vital capacityFEF25%-75%Forced expiratory flow, midexpiratory phaseGINAGlobal Initiative for Asthma(Ig)EImmunoglobulin EISAACInternational Study of Asthma and Allergies in ChildhoodIQRInterquartile rangeIL-10Interleukin-10TGF-β1Transforming growth factor-β1Treg cellsT regulatory cells.
In conclusion, the results suggested that TGF-β1 enhances ADAM33 expression in airway epithelial cells, and that ADAM33 induces the EMT of airway epithelial cells, thus participating in airway remodeling in asthma.
Taken together, these results demonstrate that SIRT7 is involved in regulating TGF-β1-induced ASM cell proliferation and migration by regulating the expression of TβRI, thus indicating an important role of SIRT7 during airway remodeling in asthma.
The results showed that RAGE inhibition or RAGE knockdown decreased β-catenin nuclear accumulation and the expression of relevant β-catenin targeted genes (VEGF, MMP9, TGF-β1) in the TDI-induced murine asthma model and TDI-HSA-treated 16HBE cells, respectively.
We found significantly decreased Bcl11b but increased IL-17A and TGF-β1 expression in patients with asthma and a strongly negative correlation between Bcl11b and these 2 cytokines in SA patients.
The aim of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the relation of two transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) polymorphisms with asthma risk in Chinese population.
Our results associating TGFB1 and TLE4 with clinical features of asthma suggest potential application of these parameters in the management of asthma children.
A total of 58 asthmatic patients (33 with severe refractory asthma (SRA)) and 10 healthy controls underwent sputum induction for % cells, activin A, follistatin, eosinophilic cationic protein (ECP), transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1), IL-13 and IL-8 measurements.
Through our review, we aim to further elucidate the role of TGF-β1 in asthma pathogenesis and the link between airway remodeling and airway hyperresponsiveness in asthma and to define TGF-β1 as a potential therapeutic target for reducing asthma morbidity and mortality.
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of TGF-β1 mRNA expression on IL-15 mRNA expression in asthmatic patients and to assess the role of IL-15 in the clinical course of asthma.
