Regarding qualitative imaging features, on univariate analysis, tumor location was significantly associated with APC (p = 0.032) and RASA1 mutation (p = 0.032); CRM status was significantly associated with ATM mutation (p = 0.021); and lymph node metastasis was significantly associated with BRCA2 (p = 0.046) mutation.
The APC promoter methylation was associated with cancer stage (OR = 0.47, 95% CI = 0.28-0.80, P = 0.006), lymph node metastases (OR = 0.55, 95% CI = 0.36-0.84, P = 0.005) and ER status (OR = 1.34, 95% CI = 1.03-1.73, P = 0.003) in breast cancer.
p53 overexpression was more frequently observed in advanced gastric carcinoma and lymph node metastasis than in early carcinoma or in the absence of metastasis (p < 0.05). p21 loss was positively correlated with APC loss, but inversely correlated with beta-catenin nuclear accumulation and NF-kappaB positivity (p < 0.05).
APC promoter hypermethylation was frequently found in patients without lymph node metastasis compared with those with lymph node metastasis (62.5% : 30.8%, P = 0.025).
