The t(12;17)(p13;q11∼21) translocation is a very rare but recurrent cytogenetic aberration observed predominantly in early pre-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) with CD19+CD10-CD33+ phenotype.
In order to contribute further information we present a rare case of a 15-month old girl with newly diagnosed CALLA positive pre-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia with favourable prognostic factors at diagnosis who experienced a relapse of the disease.
Our data identify CD10- cytoplasmic immunoglobulin-positive pre-B ALL as a rare (2.2%) but distinct immuno-subtype of adult ALL that is characterized by a high MLL rearrangement rate and a worse outcome.
