The expressions of miR-146a and ciliary neurotrophic factor receptor (CNTFR) were detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) in ALL and AML pediatric patients, as well as ALL (Jurkat) and AML (HL-60) cells.
As a tumor suppressor, miR-146a can regulate expression of apoptosis-promoting factor STAT1, and anti-apoptosis factor Bcl-xL, and is able to promote apoptosis of ALL Jurkat cells.
Our results for the first time demonstrated that the miR-146ars2910164, but not miR-499 rs3746444 variant, was associated with increased risk for developing pediatrics ALL in an Iranian population.
