Furthermore, SNPs TLR9 rs352139 and TLR8 rs3764880 were associated with PTB in the late-onset (≥39-year-old) patient group (OR = 0.60, p = 0.0029 and OR = 0.70, p = 0.021, respectively) and SNPs TLR2 rs3804099, TLR4rs4986790 and TLR4rs1927906 in the early-onset (≤ 38-year-old) group (OR = 0.53, p = 0.0012; OR = 3.45, p = 0.013; OR = 2.31, p = 0.044, respectively).
In the present study, we compared the role of genetic variations of the TLR4 gene in susceptibility to COPD and PTB and illuminated the underlying molecular mechanism of functional single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs).
The present study was undertaken to explore the relationship of Toll-like receptor (TLR) 2, TLR4 genes polymorphisms with Pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) risk in a sample of Chinese population.
In this population-based case control study, we explored the genetic polymorphisms of IL-17, TLR4 and miR-146a in association with pulmonary tuberculosis in a Chinese Han population.
Since human genetic variation is an important determinant in the outcome of infection with M. tuberculosis, we typed polymorphisms in the innate immune molecules, such as natural-resistance-associated macrophage protein 1 (NRAMP1), Vitamin D receptor (VDR), Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), intercellular adhesion molecule1 (ICAM-1), Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) and Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) in a case-control study of pulmonary tuberculosis in Iranian population.
The frequencies of the GG genotype of SNP rs7873784 in TLR4 (OR = 2.136; 95% CI: 1.312-3.478) and the CC genotype of rs3764879 in TLR8 (OR = 1.982; 95% CI: 1.292-3.042) were also significantly higher in the PTB group than in the HC group.
CONCLUSIONS There was no association between the polymorphisms in TLR4 and 9 and PTB risk overall, but TLR4rs4986791 and TLR9 rs352139 might be associated with increased PTB risk in Africans and Asians, respectively.
In the present study, we investigated whether variants in the TLR-1 1805T/G (Ile602Ser), TLR-2 2258G/A (Arg753Gln), TLR-4896A/G (Asp299Gly), TLR-41196C/T (Thr399Ile), TLR-6 745C/T (Ser249Pro), TIRAP 975C/T (Ser180Leu) genes and TLR-9 promoter region polymorphisms at positions -1237C/T and -1486C/T are associated with susceptibility or resistance to pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB).
