Our results suggested that rs895819 polymorphism was correlated with increased risk of colorectal cancer and breast cancer, but not all types of cancer.
To summarize, our results indicated that rs895819 was a protective factor for cancer in Caucasians and could increase colorectal cancer risk but decrease breast cancer risk.
However, rs895819 was associated with increased risk of colorectal cancer (GG <i>vs.</i> AA: OR = 1.56, 95% CI = 1.31-1.85; GG <i>vs.</i> AA/AG: OR = 1.53, 95% CI = 1.30-1.79; G <i>vs.</i> A: OR = 1.19, 95% CI = 1.09-1.30) and lung cancer (GG <i>vs.</i> AA/AG: OR = 1.43, 95% CI = 1.00-2.04).
Our data suggest a lack of association between rs11614913, rs895819 and rs2910164 and colorectal cancer risk in the Central-European Caucasian population, a population with an extremely high incidence of sporadic colorectal cancer.
