Role of CDH13 promoter methylation in the carcinogenesis, progression, and prognosis of colorectal cancer: A systematic meta-analysis under PRISMA guidelines.
The nuclear factor of kappa light polypeptide gene enhancer in B cells 1 (NFKB1) gene encodes p105 and p50 kD which are both subunits of the transcription factor NF-kB, involved in a wide variety of diseases and pathological states associated with inflammation, immunity, and tumorigenesis.
These results suggest that silencing of the CDH13 gene by aberrant promoter methylation and allelic deletion is associated with tumorigenesis in a subset of B-DLCL.
Our results suggest that CDH13 expression is frequently silenced by aberrant methylation in colorectal cancers and adenomas and that methylation of CDH13 commences at an early stage of multistep colorectal tumorigenesis.
