Among the examined polymorphisms, DBP1 (rs7041) TT and CDX2 (rs11568820) AA/AG genotypes were markers of better prognosis, even with multivariate adjustment. Conclusions: In patients with NSCLC, vitamin D supplementation may improve survival of patients with early-stage lung adenocarcinoma with lower 25(OH)D levels..
As little is known about CDX-2 expression in lung adenocarcinomas lacking histologic features of enteric differentiation, our aim was to determine the rate of CDX-2 positivity in non-enteric-type lung adenocarcinomas.
Although HNF4α was also expressed in other lung adenocarcinoma subtypes, those with HNF4α expression shared IMC features, including negative TTF-1 expression (P<0.001), positive CDX2 expression (P<0.001), positive KRAS mutation status (P=0.001), and negative EGFR mutation status (P<0.001).
Furthermore, as high and uniform expression of CDX2 was characteristic of metastatic colorectal cancer, weak and/or focal CDX2 expression should alert surgical pathologists to the possibility of primary lung adenocarcinoma, especially in the presence of goblet cell morphology.
CDX-2 was also evaluated on a series of 20 bioptic and 10 cytologic specimens (5 cases of colorectal metastases to the lung, 5 cases of metastases from other organs, and 10 primary lung adenocarcinomas).
