Both the effects of GADD45G and its need for E-cadherin to function on ESCC cell migration and invasion were determined through loss- and gain-of-function approaches via Transwell assays.
GADD45G and SPTBN1 not only contribute to tumor progression in hepatocellular carcinoma, but also correlate with poor prognosis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and pancreatic cancer respectively.
These data indicated that Gadd45G may be a functional tumor suppressor and its inactivation through proximal promoter methylation may play an important role in ESCC carcinogenesis and reactivation of Gadd45G gene may has therapeutic potential and may be used as a prognostic marker for ESCC patients.
