Together, our findings identify the IL17F rs763780 SNP as a biomarker of tuberculosis susceptibility and advanced disease severity in Argentina, suggesting that IL17F could be a critical cytokine in tuberculosis immunity.
The purpose of this meta-analysis is to comprehensively assess whether IL17A rs22275913, IL17Frs763780, and IL17A rs3748067 polymorphisms are correlated with TB risk.
In contrast, SNPs in the proinflammatory IL17A and IL17F genes (rs2275913 and rs763780, respectively), found previously to correlate with the disease occurrence in Chinese population, were not significantly associated with tuberculosis in the Croatian population.
To date, only one study performed in Chinese Han population has found an association between IL-17F sequence variants and susceptibility to tuberculosis, but no relationship has been found with another single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in IL-17A gene (rs2275913).
