While aberrant expression of COL1A1 and COL1A2 is implicated in numerous cancers, the differential role of COL1A1 in malignant, premalignant and normal tissues remains unclear, and its clinical significance in HCC has not been elucidated.
Finally, an association study comparing let-7 and COL1A2 and their clinical significance in HCC was conducted.PCR array analysis revealed that the expression levels of let-7a/7b/7c were significantly downregulated in early-stage HCC compared to those in NT tissues.
Our data suggest that most likely, common genetic changes in COL1A2 may influence HCC risk, at least in part by let-7 g-mediated regulation, which is possibly involved in the pathogenesis of HCC.
