The oncogene and susceptibility gene analyses revealed a positive association of K-ras oncogene mutation and germline variants of the cytochrome P-450 1A1 (CYP1A1) gene and an inverse association of the p53PIN3 variant with villoglandular carcinomas, whereas no differences were observed in the c-erbB2/neu oncogene amplification or the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase germline variant.
Expression of CYP1A1 gene in patients with lung cancer: evidence for cigarette smoke-induced gene expression in normal lung tissue and for altered gene regulation in primary pulmonary carcinomas.
Because of its potential significance in human lung cancer, we investigated the expression of the CYP1A1 structural gene in 24 established human lung cancer cell lines including 15 non-small cell (eight adenocarcinomas, three large cell undifferentiated carcinomas, two bronchioloalveolar cell carcinomas, and two squamous cell carcinomas) and nine small cell lung carcinomas.
These findings add further support to the concept that susceptibility to PAH-induced carcinomas is associated with high levels of inducible AHH activity.
Aryl hydrocarbon hydroxylase activity in lymphoblasts from normal Finnish adults and from patients with pulmonary carcinomas and other types of malignancy has been studied by a modification of previously used techniques.
