Evidence is presented that the expression levels of aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 family member, cytochrome P450 family 2 subfamily C member 8, alcohol dehydrogenase 4 (class II), pi polypeptide, alcohol dehydrogenase 1B (class I), β polypeptide and cytochrome P450 family 2 subfamily C member 9 were associated with the overall survival of patients with HCC and that the expression levels of pituitary tumor‑transforming 1, cell division cycle 20, DNA topoisomerase II α and cyclin B2 were negatively associated with the overall survival of patients with HCC.
In conclusion, the present study revealed that CCR7, CCL5, CYP2C9 and CYP2A6 are novel genes identified in the development of HCC; however, the actual functions of these genes require verification.
In TCGA database, joint effects analysis of CYP2C8, CYP2C9, and CYP2C19 showed that the risk of death from HCC was lower for groups C and D than for group A (adjusted P = 0.012 and P = 0.008, respectively).
The first group contained 11 CYPs, including the CYP2C and CYP4F families, that showed decreased expression in parallel with progression of HCV-infected liver to HCC with less differentiation.
